New Board Member and Laura’s March Beneficiaries

June 17, 2015

The LKW Fund is thrilled to welcome Anne Mientka to our executive board. Along with her mother, four sisters, and their children, Anne has been a long-time supporter of and participant in our annual Laura’s March. It’s always been heartwarming to see so many Mientkas at Laura’s March, and now we are very fortunate to have Anne as a board member. The Outreach Advocate at WomenSafe in Middlebury, Anne currently lives in Burlington.VT. She joined us on June 9 at our first board meeting to help plan Laura’s March.

At Laura’s March on September 12, we will be raising money for the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program (SANE P) at the University of Vermont Medical Center to assist with the costs of sending 2 nurses to annual conference of International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN) to attend workshops to discuss trends, practices, and research that will augment their skills in ministering to sexual assault survivors; for Pride Center of Vermont to provide legal clinic services through its LGBTQ Sexual Violence Social Justice Advocacy Project; and for HOPE Works in collaboration with Champlain College to help establish BREAKAWAY programs (interactive video games involving soccer) in workshops in schools and other youth sites in Burlington and around Chittenden County to promote gender equality and respect and prevent sexual violence.

Please save the date and plan to join us at Oakledge for the 9th annual Laura’s March!
