• One in 6 women and 1 in 3 men in the United States will experience sexual assault in his or her lifetime.


• 73% of sexual assaults are perpetrated by someone the victim knows (an acquaintance, friend, partner, or relative).


• One in every 4 women will experience domestic abuse in her lifetime.


• 85% of domestic abuse victims are women.


• 3 women a day are killed by an intimate partner.


• 2.3 million people a year are raped or physically abused by a current or former partner.


• 15.5 million children annually are exposed to domestic violence, rendering them more likely to commit domestic or sexual assault, to commit suicide, to engage in criminal activity, and to abuse alcohol or drugs.


• The majority of cases of sexual and domestic violence are not reported to the police.


• Financial costs to victims in terms of health care and lost wages, and to employers, hospitals, etc. amount to over $100 billion annually.


The LKW Fund seeks to bring awareness to the problem of sexual and domestic violence and raise money, primarily through Laura’s March, for programs in need of funds that provide services and resources to survivors.
