Volunteers

February 26, 2014

For every Laura’s March, as well as all our silent auction events, the LKW Fund has relied on the many wonderful people who volunteer their time to assist us and make our events happen. Lisa Weber, Becky Grenier, Deb and Tom DeFranzo, Pierrette, Michael and Patrick Gilbert, Martine Patterson, Heather Habich, Laura Miller, Robert Hisnay, Kathy Lassell, Andy Gimino, Gary Coryer and Janet Brooks with their Cub Scout troops, Linda Barnes’ South Burlington H.S. students, Louise Goodrich, and Rebecca Strauss and her AmeriCorps  friends are just a few of the very many who come to mind that have helped out, some year after year. When I realized that United Way of Chittenden County has a volunteer recognition program and publicizes stories of these volunteers in the Burlington Free Press, I started nominating people—and only wished I had known about this sooner and had done it from the start! Among the volunteers that have been written about were four amazing women of Burlington’s chapter of Zonta International: Nancy Shambaugh, Jean Henshaw, Gail Lang, and Jennifer Smith. Two others recognized were Alison Emerson and Bob Murphy, both of VEIC. A few months back, I nominated Alpha Chi Omega and then Delta, Delta, Delta, two sororities at UVM.  My most recent nominee was Mike Reilly. Mike has been lending a hand every which way he can and has also donated his framed photographs of Lake Champlain for our auction and raffle. At the last Laura’s March, he was our official photographer and took all the wonderful photos on this link: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/cyqrlfx73daw3qj/J4FedjQEbj
