Recent Fundraising for Laura’s Art Room and Upcoming Fundraisers

June 12, 2014

Shannon Reilly of Magnolia Bistro gave us an extremely generous portion of the dining receipts of May 28 when he handed us a check for $500, an amount that brought us to $15,000 toward our pledge of $40,000 to King Street Center to name the state-of-the-art art studio in their new facility after Laura. Thank you Shannon and your wonderful staff!

The next opportunity we have to raise money for Laura’s Art Room will be on July 16, when Bluebird Barbecue will be donating a portion of their “Community Night” proceeds to the LKW Fund. (We are immensely grateful to Mike Reilly for having arranged this with Bluebird.) However, we very much need your help to qualify for their donation because we have to get 25 people to dine there that night and say they are there for the LKW Fund. Ned and I plan to be there and we hope you can join us for delicious barbecue and to support our Laura’s Room fundraising campaign.

Next week, we will be having our first meeting to plan the September 13’s Laura’s March to end sexual violence. We feel privileged to be raising money for these specific programs: H.O.P.E. Works will develop, expand, and enhance victim advocacy services for children and youth with an in-house mental health counselor. Pride Center of Vermont (formerly RU12?) will expand its outreach and education efforts to ensure safety and prevent sexual violence and will also collaborate with the Threshold Collective, which uses storytelling, photography, and video to effect change, create leadership, and promote healthier communities. The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program (S.A.N.E.) at Fletcher Allen Health Care will send at least 2 nurses to the annual Scientific Assembly to connect with peers and professionals to discuss new research to improve care to patients.

Please mark your calendars for the annual Laura’s March to end sexual violence.
